In the early stages of the debate, President Obama has come out again more aggressively at Gov. Romney, offering far more critical comments than his Republican counterpart.
On the topic of Syria, Romney largely echoed the comments of President Obama. "We don't want to have military involvement there," he said. "We don't want to get drawn into a military conflict."
However, the White House has not been taking a leadership role diplomatically in Syria, Romney said. "This has been going on for a year ? We should be playing the leadership role."
Obama countered: "We are playing the leadership role."
The president zeroed in on Romney's practical foreign policy experience:? "He doesn't have different ideas because we're doing exactly what we should be doing."
