Scientists build the first all-carbon solar cell

ScienceDaily (Oct. 31, 2012) ? Stanford University scientists have built the first solar cell made entirely of carbon, a promising alternative to the expensive materials used in photovoltaic devices today. The results are published in the October 31 online edition of the journal ACS Nano.

"Carbon has the potential to deliver high performance at a low cost," said study senior author Zhenan Bao, a professor of chemical engineering at Stanford. "To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a working solar cell that has all of the components made of carbon. This study builds on previous work done in our lab."

Unlike rigid silicon solar panels that adorn many rooftops, Stanford's thin film prototype is made of carbon materials that can be coated from solution. "Perhaps in the future we can look at alternative markets where flexible carbon solar cells are coated on the surface of buildings, on windows or on cars to generate electricity," Bao said.

The coating technique also has the potential to reduce manufacturing costs, said Stanford graduate student Michael Vosgueritchian, co-lead author of the study with postdoctoral researcher Marc Ramuz.

"Processing silicon-based solar cells requires a lot of steps," Vosgueritchian explained. "But our entire device can be built using simple coating methods that don't require expensive tools and machines."

Carbon nanomaterials

The Bao group's experimental solar cell consists of a photoactive layer, which absorbs sunlight, sandwiched between two electrodes. In a typical thin film solar cell, the electrodes are made of conductive metals and indium tin oxide (ITO). "Materials like indium are scarce and becoming more expensive as the demand for solar cells, touchscreen panels and other electronic devices grows," Bao said. "Carbon, on the other hand, is low cost and Earth-abundant."

The Bao group's all-carbon solar cell consists of a photoactive layer, which absorbs sunlight, sandwiched between two electrodes.

For the study, Bao and her colleagues replaced the silver and ITO used in conventional electrodes with graphene -- sheets of carbon that are one atom thick -and single-walled carbon nanotubes that are 10,000 times narrower than a human hair. "Carbon nanotubes have extraordinary electrical conductivity and light-absorption properties," Bao said.

For the active layer, the scientists used material made of carbon nanotubes and "buckyballs" -- soccer ball-shaped carbon molecules just one nanometer in diameter. The research team recently filed a patent for the entire device.

"Every component in our solar cell, from top to bottom, is made of carbon materials," Vosgueritchian said. "Other groups have reported making all-carbon solar cells, but they were referring to just the active layer in the middle, not the electrodes."

One drawback of the all-carbon prototype is that it primarily absorbs near-infrared wavelengths of light, contributing to a laboratory efficiency of less than 1 percent -- much lower than commercially available solar cells. "We clearly have a long way to go on efficiency," Bao said. "But with better materials and better processing techniques, we expect that the efficiency will go up quite dramatically."

Improving efficiency

The Stanford team is looking at a variety of ways to improve efficiency. "Roughness can short-circuit the device and make it hard to collect the current," Bao said. "We have to figure out how to make each layer very smooth by stacking the nanomaterials really well."

The researchers are also experimenting with carbon nanomaterials that can absorb more light in a broader range of wavelengths, including the visible spectrum.

"Materials made of carbon are very robust," Bao said. "They remain stable in air temperatures of nearly 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit."

The ability of carbon solar cells to out-perform conventional devices under extreme conditions could overcome the need for greater efficiency, according to Vosgueritchian. "We believe that all-carbon solar cells could be used in extreme environments, such as at high temperatures or at high physical stress," he said. "But obviously we want the highest efficiency possible and are working on ways to improve our device."

"Photovoltaics will definitely be a very important source of power that we will tap into in the future," Bao said. "We have a lot of available sunlight. We've got to figure out some way to use this natural resource that is given to us."

Other authors of the study are Peng Wei of Stanford and Chenggong Wang and Yongli Gao of the University of Rochester Department of Physics and Astronomy. The research was funded by the Global Climate and Energy Project at Stanford and the Air Force Office for Scientific Research.

What Shall We Do For Economic Development In This Society ...

You are here: Home / Economics / What Shall We Do For Economic Development In This Society?

Education is considered as the fourth most important necessity for people after food, clothing and shelter. It is the key to economic development of any country particularly, developing economy like India. Talking about the education system in India, there are wide ranges of courses offered by different educational institutes all over the country. People usually choose their educational institutes based on geographical locations.

The contributing reasons behind this tremendous growth in these software industries is that, along with numerous companies that already existed in the nation, many multinational companies started to invest on their products in India, they started their operational units here to aid its paramount growth. Also India is a place for cheap yet competent work force. Indians were ready to work harder for a cheap labor for many hours. This type of manpower was available in abundance in India enabling the companies to produce cost effective results along with huge return on investments. The software solutions exported from Indian companies were relatively cheaper and attracted many companies to buy them, and also improved the intensity of software outsourcing functions. Many organizations also set up their offshore outsourcing centers and software development centers in India for this main reason.

We looked at whether successful community-based forestry management experiences could be extended to involve scheme reforestation trials. We found that until natural assets such as viable ecosystems and watersheds have commercial value, there will be little incentive for Asian countries to restore habitat and protect native forests. For example, oil palm provides immediate economic opportunities for poor rural communities. But if ecologically important peat lands are degraded as a result then additional costs will be incurred; these are measurable as degraded lands, poor water quality, and loss of biodiversity. Lessons from Irene help retailers cope with Sandy

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Retailers preparing for the worst of Hurricane Sandy as it hit the East Coast on Monday looked back to only a year ago to Hurricane Irene for a blueprint.

From when to get product into the region before a storm hits, to keeping track of workers when the hurricane comes, Irene provided important lessons, retailers said.

"Irene was something unprecedented last year. We learned a number of things from that," Terry Johnson, Lowe's senior vice president of store operations, told Reuters.

Irene which ranked as the fifth-costliest hurricane in U.S. history, slammed much of the U.S. East Coast last year. The lessons from that destructive hurricane have helped many chains prepare better this year.

For instance, Lowe's started deploying products like generators, tarps, batteries and electric cables to distribution centers early last week to avoid facing delays due to potential road closures. The company, the second-largest U.S. home improvement chain, started stocking up on products even before it could get a good read of the exact path of Hurricane Sandy.

"We are thinking a little bit bigger (this time)," Johnson told Reuters by phone.

Products that retailers moved closer to where the hurricane will hit also include bottled water, flashlights and dry food.

For Target Corp , the lesson from Irene was to have the products in the region five to six days in advance.

"What we've learned in responding to these in the past is finding the sweet spot in reloading the area with product," Target spokeswoman Amy Reilly said of having supplies in a region for shoppers to stock up on during a hurricane.

Hurricane Irene hit the region on the final weekend of August 2011, causing flooding and power outages during the back-to-school shopping season, one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year.

If there is good news for retailers, Hurricane Sandy is hitting in what is typically a slow time, between back-to-school and the all-important holiday shopping season.

"The timing is far enough away from any major holiday, so it's unlikely to have a meaningful impact on the overall holiday sales unless there is a catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina proportions," said Joel Bines, managing director of AlixPartners' retail practice, referring to the storm that devastated New Orleans in 2005.

Still, Target, Sears , Starbucks , Walmart , Home Depot and other closed hundreds of stores Monday as the hurricane hit.

"Every day lost for a lot of these retailers, if they're nice-to-have items, they're just sales you're just not going to get back," said Evan Gold, a senior vice president at Planalytics, which advises retailers on business weather intelligence.

Gold estimated that most major U.S. chains have at least 10 percent of their stores in Sandy's path.

Spending on generators and storm clean up is also likely to cut into budgets people have for holiday items, he said.

LOGISTICS MATTER

Irene, and other hurricanes, also taught retailers how logistics related to their employees and stores.

Sears spokesman Chris Brathwaite said that from Hurricane Irene and, more recently, Hurricane Isaac, the retailer is better able to track its workers and determine if they have been affected by the storm and needs support.

The retailer also has a better communication system in place for notification if a store is going to close.

Other retailers learned which stores could serve many customers.

"We looked very closely at store sales trends from Irene and which stores would be most essential for us to keep open to serve communities with multiple locations," said Eric Harkreader, a spokesman for drugstore chain operator Rite Aid .

"Also like Irene, we have generators positioned strategically around the storm's path in the hopes we'll be able to move in quickly and get the most essential stores back up and running quickly should they lose power," he said.

Of course, if the Internet - or the mobile device - keeps working, a big storm could benefit some retailers.

"Online ordering may be up. It is a good day to order holiday gifts if the kids aren't driving you crazy," said Al Sambar, retail strategist at consulting firm, Kurt Salmon.

UK shortlists projects for carbon capture funding

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain has announced a shortlist of four projects that could receive up to 1 billion pounds from a scheme to fund carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said on Tuesday.

The government is providing funding to support the development of CCS technology, which it is banking on to reduce climate-warming carbon emissions and as a new export product.

Britain's previous attempts to finance CCS projects have failed as costs rose above expectations and the technology is currently thought to be around a decade away from commercialisation in Britain.

"The projects we have chosen to take forward have all shown that they have the potential to kick-start the creation of a new CCS industry in the UK. But further discussions are needed to ensure we deliver value-for-money for taxpayers," Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Davey said in a statement.

The four short-listed bids are Drax's 304-MW coal plant in North Yorkshire, Shell and SSE's 1,180-MW combined cycle gas plant in Peterhead, National Grid and Petrofac's 570-MW coal-gasification project in Grangemouth and Progressive Energy and GDF Suez's 330-MW coal-gasification project in Teesside.

The government expects to take a final decision on the winners of the competition next year. The precise timetable for this will depend on the projects selected, it said in a statement.

EU SCHEME

Britain's plan to fund CCS projects runs alongside an EU competition, which has earmarked two UK-based projects as contenders to win up to 337 million euros per scheme.

DECC said it will put forward the Progressive Energy Teesside project and Drax's coal project as its preferred candidates for the EU cash, while the Peterhead project makes the reserve list.

The EU Commission will make a final decision on whether to support a UK-based project at the end of this year.

The UK decision confounded developers of a project located in Don Valley in Yorkshire, which was the EU Commission's preferred winner of its tender.

The CEO of 2Co Energy, which is developing the scheme alongside Korea's Samsung, said the scheme would now be unable to go ahead as a result of the UK government decision.

"We are trying to come to terms with how the UK's most advanced project that has twice been selected by the EU for funding and is currently sitting as Europe's top ranked project has not even made it to the UK's shortlist," he said in a statement.

The Don Valley project also won cash under an earlier EU funding programme.

A UK spokesman said Britain's decision was made on affordability, deliverability and value for the taxpayer.

Don Valley's withdrawal makes it more likely that Poland's Belchatow coal-fired power plant, the biggest emitter of carbon dioxide in the EU, will win the Commission tender, as it was the EU's second choice to receive funding.

Moves to give Poland cash from the sale of EU permits could prove controversial as the country has been seen a barrier to the EU adopting tougher emission reduction targets.

This is Halloween? and Change Management : HRVoice.org

HRVoice.org | October 30, 2012 | no comments

By Beth Harris, CHRP

?Our man Jack is King of the Pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now!

This is Halloween. This is Halloween.
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!?

?????????????? ? ?This Is Halloween? by Danny Elfman

In the nearly 10 years since it?s release, ?The Nightmare Before Christmas? has become a stop-motion classic of a duo-holiday cannon.? It tells the tale of Jack Skellington, Pumpkin?King of Halloween Town, who grows bored of his Halloween ways. Happening upon a portal to Christmas Town, he is struck by the existence of a whole new reality.? Grasped by the vision to make Christmas his own, Jack leads his followers into the unknown with great spirit, but little knowledge. Musical mishaps and misaligned festive mingling ensues: a great film for the family and just plain fun.

However, Tim Burton?s The Nightmare Before Christmas is much more than an imaginative ode of the season and an entertaining movie; it also provides an illuminating case study of unorthodox change.? Through a different lens, the story of Jack?s journey, and the impact of his ?vision? on others, tells a timeless business tale?one which illustrates different features of leadership and change which can be analyzed and applied to business practice.

Jack?s Perspective
The story begins with a leader who has grown bored with a role that has become personally redundant and unfulfilling; the King of Pumpkin Town is bored. Jack? craves inspiration, creativity, and reconnection to his main purpose in life. Recognizing the need for change, and happening upon a portal to a previously unknown dimension of opportunity, in this case Christmas Town, Jack jumps?and takes his followers along for a disastrous ride.? So thrilled by the opportunity to venture into a new industry and so focused on his need to have something new, Jack assumed all of the people would benefit from this change and his personal problems would be fixed.? Unfortunately, Jack did not possess any knowledge of this new industry; his attempts to ?deconstruct? Christmas into its core physical components are woefully misguided.?

Jack the Leader and the Four ?Ps?
Though a well-liked and highly-animated leader, Jack?s initiative was doomed to fail from the start because he did not have proper conditions to support his plan for change. According to Larry Stout, in order to initiate change, the proper conditions must exist to serve as catalyst and foundation alike; these are the four ?Ps?: People, Place, Position, and Period (Stout, 2001, p. 42-46).

People, Place, Position, and Period
Jack had the people. The people of Halloween Town revered him as their leader. Jack had the position. In Halloween Town, he could make things happen.??

However, in the context of place, Jack gets stuck when he decides to lead his people well outside his field of expertise.? In short, Halloween Town and Christmas Town are as different as, well, as different as Halloween and Christmas. Though well-versed in all things Halloween, Jack?s lack of alternative festive knowledge leads to inevitable disaster.? Master of the autumnally macabre, the period (Christmas) Jack led was misaligned with his venture from its wintery start.?

As a result, the people?s view of Jack?s leadership changed; they were unable to follow him simply anywhere.? Warned by at least one member of his community who saw the misfortune waiting in the wings, Jack did not listen. Lacking an inner team with whom to explore, support and transition the change Jack desired, what transpired is not unexpected.

Leadership & Jack
Leaders and managers exist in all organizations and are essential to the development and advancement of a company?especially during change. Employees of all levels need guidance and support to adapt with the changing work environment and rely on a well-planned strategy for the company. While a leader and manager within a business environment play different roles, both are essential to the success of the organization. (Kotter, 2001)

Jack?s followers did not lack for enthusiasm, but sorely lacked the perspective, skills and knowledge critical to the business of Christmas; while processes evolved, as Jack matched people by their closest related skill set, a working structure did not stand a chance. Moreover, worsening matters in translation, Jack did not monitor the change process which resulted in compounded misunderstandings and a conflicted definition of the holidays.

Perhaps the greatest failing of Jack as a leader was his lack of prior failure.? A natural leader within his area of expertise, Jack did not have to work at developing his followers, nor listen to any of their ideas.? After all, everyone looked to Jack to lead. In this way, his leadership appeared more of a cult following rather than inspiration and motivation.? Even venturing into such new territory as Christmas, he failed to address the team for input; when input was offered in the form of offering, Jack simply pushed forward: a key failure in communications.? As with any change, clarity of communications from management and leadership is key for success.

Change: Influence and Implementation
1.? Influencing people to change:
Jack was followed unconditionally by devoted ?ready to where? followers, who he had no problem convincing to do as he asked.? Leaders require ?ready to where? followers to help motivate and move the change plans forward.? However, the people of Halloween Land were devoted to a fault, not paying attention to their own ideas, needs for clarification or need for change. The one resistor in the story, Sally, attempted to warn Jack of the potential of disaster, but Jack did not listen. The disaster of Jack?s plan showed the importance of resistors in change and the vital role has in developing a solid plan for change.? Jack?s personal need for change created the underlying urgency, but because of poor communication, his followers could not understand how to achieve that change.

The people followed Jack because that is what they always did, not because he created a sense of urgency with clear guidelines and meanings for the change. (Jellison, 2007, p. 48-50)? Jack?s plan was severely underdeveloped, which created an unclear vision and resultant miscommunication. The elements of an effective vision include the use of a mission statement, along with a description of the purpose, values and direction of the change (Yukl, 2009, p. 123). The lack of this led to Jack?s inability to monitor the progress of the plans.? Although Jack delegated, the people didn?t understand the purpose of their tasks. With so much focus on the end product (a Halloween-esque version of Christmas), Jack spared none on the process of getting there: motivating, monitoring and adapting to the needs of the process.

2. Change implementation:
The success of change implementation is dependent on the leader?s behaviours. Jack?s actions during the change implementation lacked effective communication of a clear vision, lack of urgency for the need of change, and neglected to monitor the process of change (Yukl, 2009, p.130).? Quite simply, Jack did not fully understand the true meaning of Christmas. In his process of attempted understanding, he kept to himself and learned the only way he knew how: scientific method and logic. He didn?t look into other areas of skill development to become fully competent. This lack of competency created the initial miscommunication, as the townspeople could not possibly fully understand a concept that escaped even their leader.? In the end, Jack proved that you can?t lead what you don?t know.

How Jack?s role can be applied to the business world:
When leading change in a business environment, it is important to have clear vision and purpose for the change. The leader must be driven by more than personal need for change and conditions that support change need to exist. Influencing people to change requires an assortment of different followers, all of which need to be listened to for further development of change. Leaders need to be efficient in listening and communication. This applies to the employees and all of the stakeholders that have invested interest in the organization. Customer, employees, general public and investors need to be heard to comply with any modifications of the organization. Managers and leaders play equally essential roles in leading change. Jack?s leadership crisis shows what can happen if these components are not implemented in the change process. These are lessons we as emerging leaders can take to heart.

Braving the challenges of breast cancer: A Survivor speaks

Love, compassion, affection, feminine energy, motherhood, youthfulness, peace, spiritual healing, relieved tension, emotional healing and harmony are some words that are symbolic with the colour pink. On the health scene, the pink ribbon represents breast cancer awareness.
The pink ribbon in general identifies the wearer with breast cancer awareness and indicates expressions of support for women with the illness. In 1991, the Susan G Koman Foundation handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City Race for breast cancer survivors.

Participants at a breast cancer awareness walk

The story of breast cancer gone undetected can be a grave one, however, with early detection and treatment the illness can be eradicated so as to ensure a longer life. In Guyana, cancer of the breast is one of the most common types of cancers followed by ovarian and prostate cancer.
Awareness is one of the key elements which lead to early detection of breast cancer. In this regard, October is designated as breast cancer awareness month and over the years, the Health Ministry in Guyana has been hosting seminars and fitness walks. This year, a vigil will be held to honour breast cancer survivors and those that have passed on.
The Health Ministry offers treatment at the Guyana Cancer Institute at a subsided cost.
Additionally, with support from Beauty and Home Systems Inc, AVON and the Guyana Cancer Institute is able to provide free mammograms to women. This exercise will be continuing in November.
October 19 was designated as ?Wear it Pink Friday?, an observance that saw members of several organisations wearing pink, indicating their support for women with breast cancer.
Denise McCurdy, a surviving breast cancer patient and teacher of 34 years was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 while preparing for a surgery of a different nature.
Her story is one of courage and determination. Dealing with any illness can be a challenge for an individual much less the family.
McCurdy, after having the surgery which saw the removal of one of her breasts, had? to face some hardships in the early stages of her situation, nevertheless, having to deal with a severed relationship did not keep her from living life the way she intended to.
Today, McCurdy lives for her students and offers moral support to other women who are skeptical of seeking treatment for breast cancer.
She is, by no means, living a life of suffering since she attributes her very existence to Christ. Apart from her spiritual affirmation, McCurdy acknowledges that maintaining a good diet has also changed her outlook on being healthy.

Origin
Breast cancer originates from breast?tissue, most commonly from the inner lining of milk ducts or lobules?that supply the ducts with milk.?The most common sign of breast cancer is the detection of a lump in the breast or lymph nodes, in the armpits.
Other indications may include one breast becoming larger or lower, a nipple changing position, skin puckering or dimpling, discharge from nipple(s), and constant pain in part of the breast or armpit. In this regard, self-examination is essential.
In the past, being diagnosed with breast cancer was likened to the HIV/AIDS virus since the necessary diagnostic equipment and advanced treatment were unavailable. However, that has changed and due to investments by the government, women all across Guyana have a better chance of survival.
The most common diagnostic methods to confirm breast cancer are pap-smears, mammograms and biopsy while X-rays, ultrasounds, CT or bone scans allow tissues, organs and bones to be looked at in more detail.
Common risk factors include family history of breast and ovarian cancer, hormone replacement therapy, dense breast tissue, obesity, alcohol consumption and the use of hormonal contraceptives.
In 2010, 25 breast cancer patients were treated, and in 2011, 30 patients received treatment at the Guyana Cancer Institute.
Surgeries such as lumpectomy, quadrantectomy, mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection are the most common surgeries for breast cancer. They are combined with radiation therapy, chemotherapy or hormonal therapy.
The Guyana Cancer Association and the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre?s orthotic and prosthetic department, together, are manufacturing breast prosthesis (artificial breast), at a low cost for women who have had a mastectomy. It is hoped that this will restore a woman?s confidence and removes the visibility or lack of a breast.
For men, the lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer is about one in 1000. Prostate cancer?is a form of?cancer?that affects males.
Men have breast tissue just like women, and can develop breast cancer. Breast health starts with knowing your breasts so that you are more likely to notice changes that may lead to problems. The most frequently diagnosed kind of breast cancer in men is found in the breast ducts (ductal carcinoma). Common symptoms are a small, painless lump close in the breast and a small discharge from the nipple; these are similar to the symptoms experienced by women.

Motorola scales back ITC case against Xbox, drops WiFi patent complaints

Motorola scales back ITC case against Xbox, drops WiFi patent complaint

Since taking over Motorola Mobility, Google has started to rein in some of the manufacturer's legal adventures. First, it struck a licensing deal with Apple in Germany, then it withdrew an ITC complaint against the company in early October. Now Microsoft is benefiting from its new, seemingly less lawsuit-happy adversary. Moto has decided to pull its WiFi-related patent claims from a complaint against the Xbox 360. That still leaves its H.264 patents on the docket, though, we wouldn't be surprised to see the case disappear completely before the two companies go to trial in December. Microsoft claims it's entitled to a reciprocal license from Google due to an existing agreement between Mountain View and MPEG LA. German courts have already ruled that Motorola's claims regarding its H.264 patents are strong enough to issue injunctions against the Xbox 360 and Windows 7, however the company has been unable to enforce those sales bans due to ongoing investigations in the US.

Finance officials troubled by massive farm scheme debts call for ...

Is the Church hindered by debt payments? - Educational Advertisement by eric731support schemes, but has received only Bt198 billion in compensation from the government so far, or less than half of the total cost. Due to rising cost, the Finance Ministry proposed to the Commerce Ministry and the National Rice Policy Committee to report the cost every quarter. To make the rice pledging scheme sustainable, the government needs to review the way it buys rice from farmers. The price should not be too much higher than the market, according to officials. The government promises to buy unlimited rice from farmers at an average price of Bt15,000 per tonne of unmilled rice. The government was also urged to limit the quantity of rice that it will buy from farmers, as the open-ended policy has led to overproduction of rice and other farm products, officials said. For example, now farmers plant seven crops in each two-year cycle, up from five previously. Since the government now has a monopoly in rice trading, it has distorted the market mechanism. Exporters and millers cannot buy rice at a reasonable price for trade. A few of them can win rice at government auctions, but that is because they have an unfair advantage over others, officials said. The price support scheme also makes Thai rice more expensive than rivals? rice in the world market, leading to shrinking market share. The scheme has also encouraged smuggling, as farmers in Asean countries can get higher prices by selling their rice to Thais. The government should also consult with other agencies on conducting a comprehensive appraisal of the price support schemes to determine if they should be continued or changed, they said.

Liability of a revocable trust for estate debts in Florida

http://flawyer.us/id14.html But, to be blunt, the regular, plain vanilla, inter vivos, revocable living trust that many people have in Florida will not escape paying debts of the decedent just because it is a trust. There are ways to avoid most creditors claims against an estate in Florida; this gets complicated and you should consult with an attorney about how to do this, this is not something ?you want to try to do it ?yourself; but an ordinary revocable trust is not one of the ways to do this.

Should IRS Report Tax Debts to Credit Bureaus?

What the GAO Found: According to the GAO, individual tax payers and businesses owed a total of about $373 billion in unpaid federal taxes in 2011 ? ?$258 billion by individuals and $115 billion by businesses. Over half of the tax debts were less than $5,000, but debts over $25,000 made $310 billion of the total $373 billion debt. About $60 billion of the total tax debt was either in the IRS collections process or covered by taxpayer-IRS installment payment agreements. Finally, about $110 billion of the total debt was classified by the IRS as being ?uncollectable.? Over 50% of the total tax debt was subject to tax liens, making those debts fair game for the credit reporting bureaus.

Consolidating Your Business Debts

In order to consolidate your debts, you will need to borrow a significant amount and this will mean that you will be charged interest. It is important to look for an offer that gives you a good interest rate because this will lower the cost of your borrowing. The costs of failing to make repayments on multiple debts, however, will be far higher than this rate of interest. If you are overwhelmed by debts and struggling to manage all of your repayment obligations, then a consolidation loan can be the perfect solution.

Following restructuring debts, Royal Ranches Marrakech project adapt to local market demand

The modifications to RRM project will involve the re-master planning of the first district which will include an authentic ?Medina? club houses, a medical & health spa, a traditional ?Souk? shopping area and a boutique hotel. This decision follows a recent visit by a delegation representing GFH?s executives led by the Acting CEO of GFH, Hisham Alrayes to the project earlier last month. During the visit they concluded the restructuring of the projects financing with BMCE Bank, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in April and assessing progress on the development. Commenting on the decision to change the direction of the development in RRM, Mr. Alrayes said: ?We understand that market needs can change overtime, and as such we make it our business to monitor these potential and actual changes as a matter of course. In order to better cater to local demand due to the market changes and the existing oversupply of luxury villas, we have taken the decision to alter the plan to include affordable residential units and medical health facilities, rather than the ranches and large scale villas as initially planned for.? It is worth noting that the existing infrastructure development of RRM is 45 percent complete. Following the financial crisis, there was ample influx of luxury villas in Marrakech, which has led to the modification of the original master plan in light of the prevailing market requirements. RRM is now working on a revised time schedule for the completion of the first phase of the development, while focusing at the same time on attracting joint developers to undertake parts of the project.

CashAdvanceUSA.net Helps Consumers Lower Their Debts with Instant Loan Approvals

Some consumers are drowning in a sea of credit card bills. Whether it?s due to the current state of the economy, a job loss, illness or another unexpected expense. The bills are piling up and some individuals are finding it difficult to keep up with them. Regardless of the reason, the fact of the matter is that these debts are taking over their lives. Debt can cause an individual a lot of unwanted stress. It can cause problems in relationships and in some instances even tear them apart. Some are throwing in the towel and are virtually walking away from their debts. Walking away from credit card debt can bring about many legal issues and can be more stressful than the debt itself. This is not an option to those who would like to keep their credit untarnished. Many consumers are turning to companies that offer debt consolidation to solve their problems. Debt consolidation means that an individual can borrow a sum of money from one of these companies and use those funds to pay off their credit card debts. Once those bills are paid, the individual has only the one bill coming in from the consolidation company. These people are finding that the one bill is much easier to manage and pay than several. Debt consolidation has become a lifesaver to so many. Individuals that have taken advantage of this have taken a hold of their finances and are finding it much easier to keep up. Instead of having several bills coming in from different companies and different credit cards, debt consolidation allows for only one bill. This makes things much less confusing. Dana, a representative for the company behind the website, CashadvanceUSA.net had this to share. ?We have a vast network of lenders that are willing to work with folks. They truly understand the importance of debt consolidation. There are far too many people up to their necks in credit card debt. They are here to help them take control of their bills.? Whether consumers need help paying off several of their credit card bills or just a few, the choice to do it will yield the same results. This will allow individuals to relax a bit. It will alleviate some of the stress that the debts created. It will also save their credit status and help them avoid the possibilities of legal problems. It is important to keep in mind that debt consolidation is a form of loan. Any individual that has obtained a loan must abide by the terms and conditions of this loan. Any money borrowed, for what ever reason, must be paid back to the institute in the time stipulated in the terms. Neglect to do so may result in penalties or worse. CashadvanceUSA.net is a loan comparison website not a loan service company. Since launching just a few months ago, CashadvanceUSA.net has offered a simple three step form online to get payday and cash advance comparisons quickly and easily.

99% Finding Nemo 3D

All Critics (223) | Top Critics (45) | Fresh (233) | Rotten (2) | DVD (48)

A genuinely funny and touching film that, in less than a decade, has established itself as a timeless classic.

It makes even more compelling what is still my all-time favorite Pixar film.

Think of this re-release as an encore, a handy touchstone for you and your kids. "Finding Nemo" was and remains the gold standard against which all other modern animated films are measured, a classic from the day it premiered.

In this seamless blending of technical brilliance and storytelling verve, the Pixar team has made something as marvelously soulful and innately, fluidly American as jazz.

Nemo, with its ravishing underwater fantasia, manages to trump the design glamour of earlier Pixar films.

I don't exactly worship Pixar, but "Finding Nemo" is truly a great film.

Gill is Platoon's Sgt. Elias if he'd survived Sgt. Barnes' treachery and returned to civilian life weary and hard-bitten from his experiences. And also a fish.

Finding Nemo 3D is a quality post-conversion experience that successfully enhances the 2003 film's original standout visuals.

The 3D gives the images a little more depth but they already had heft and weight. The 3D is a money-making gimmick, nothing more.

A great blend of storytelling and technology.

It's downright curmudgeonly to remain focused on the negatives when the rest of the picture is saturated with invention and wit.

It's bright, it's beautiful and it hasn't aged a day. So why, then, do we need to see it in 3-D?

A rare example of a movie that not only survives its 3-D conversion but benefits from it

It was as funny as I remember and brilliant because it is subtle. It just knocks it out of the park. I love everything about this movie, one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time, 5/5 Schmoes. The new sound/3D adds to the greatness that is Nemo.

If you're fishing for fun in an ocean of movie mediocrity, grab the kids or the grandkids, fork out a few extra bucks and see this one in three-dimensions.

It's a great movie, so much fun, an acheivement that should be enjoyed by children of all ages and worth seeing it in 3D.

Sea-worthy w/enhanced visual lure and rich, humorous characters set in a double narrative; this 3D revisit allows us to fall overboard all over again.

If ever there was a film that wasn't broke, this is it. So naturally they converted it into 3D for a special re-release this weekend. (Stupid irony.)

I believe my sensitivity to certain creative choices of the picture has dulled some, while age has opened my eyes to its complex relationships and tireless sense of exploration.

When the blunt head of Bruce the shark slams into the screen like a hammer, everyone -- adults included -- gasps

At its best, the added dimension is merely harmless, making the movie blurry enough that you need special glasses to make it sharp again.
